Join us for a round of golf to get Special Olympics athletes in the game

Special Olympics Calgary's Golf Classic is hosted annually to raise funds and awareness supporting the sport programs run locally in Calgary for individuals with intellectual disabilities. 
Special Olympics Calgary (SOC) is a volunteer-driven, registered charity with a mission to enrich the lives of Albertans with an intellectual disability through sport. The unique approach of Special Olympics programs focuses on athletes’ abilities, not their disabilities. We provide a combination of fun, fitness, and social activity that helps build the confidence and life skills of our athletes. Special Olympics is in the community every day of the year. Over 850 athletes, with support and coaching from more than 300 volunteers, participate in 21 different summer and winter sports here in Calgary.
 
SOC relies on the generosity of individuals, groups, corporations, and special events to operate, as we receive no direct government funding to sustain our operations. 76% of our annual operating budget is raised through generous donations right here in Calgary. Currently, we require approximately $700,000 yearly to cover the costs associated with programming. Proceeds from the Golf Classic will directly help us to achieve this goal. Join us as we hit the fairway on June 20th alongside our Special Olympics athletes and local celebrities for a fun day of golf, supporting our athletes to achieve their best.

You can support us by donating funds, a gift certificate, a prize package, or other items. Donated items could be included in our silent auction to generate funds to support the 21 different summer and winter sport programs we offer.

Our average yearly budget is approximately $700,000 which covers the costs associated with programming. We are aiming to raise $85,000 to offset these costs, and need your help to reach that goal. 2013 World Winter Games


It is very exciting to know that Special Olympics 2013 World Winter Games are coming up! Special Olympics has evolved into one of the world's most powerful and effective social movements with more than 3.7 million athletes with intellectual disabilities from more than 170 countries participating. January 29th - February 5th will bring together the top athletes from various countries to compete in Pyeong Chang, South Korea.
