SOC Volunteer Day

"Athletes are WHY we exist, Volunteers are HOW we exist!"

SOC Volunteer Day

Special Olympics Calgary is hosting a Volunteer Day to give you, our volunteers, the opportunity to increase your knowledge on dealing with our athletes, gain a better understanding of your role as a volunteer, and allow you to meet other volunteers you’ll be working with. The day will be beneficial for new and longtime volunteers, and will aid as an important training tool as our spring season quickly approaches.

The day will begin with an introduction from Special Olympics Calgary with a quick overview of the organization. We will then split up into smaller groups and rotate through several presentations.  There will be time for you to socialize throughout the day and over lunch with other volunteers, speakers and Special Olympics staff who may be able to offer advice or personal experiences with the organization and with athletes.

Presentations will be from the following groups:

· Canadian Down Syndrome Society
· Calgary Autism Society
· Calgary Fetal Alcohol Network
· Calgary Police Service on Safety in the Community.
· We will also have a session for you to hear firsthand about the organization from a coach and athlete.

You will leave the day refreshed and informed on Special Olympics missions, policies, our athletes, and your role with Special Olympics Calgary.

Please confirm your attendance by April 3,2019.
