'Horses Jump To Give A Leg Up' campaign

Special Olympics Calgary is excited to share that we were one of the twenty charities selected to participate in Spruce Meadows, 'Horses Jump To Give A Leg Up' program.

The 'Horses Jump to Give a Leg Up' program is designed to provide aid to non-profit organizations who are still fighting to recover from the severe financial, physical and emotional impact of the devastating flood of June 2013.

Twenty non-profit groups have been selected to each imaginatively decorate a life-size fibreglass horse. Once completed, each equine figure will be displayed throughout the grounds of Spruce Meadows, and later sold to lucky buyers via Silent Auction on the Spruce Meadows website. The proceeds of the sale of each horse will go directly to the organization.

On Saturday June 7, 2014, the entire colourful herd was rounded up and presented during the Parade of Nations. Three organizations were selected for the most creative and innovative design and won an additional cash reward! We are excited to share that we tied for third place!

'Spirit of Champions'

We couldn't have our horse just be called a horse, so we reached out to our members to send in their ideas for what we should name our horse for this campaign. We received lots of great suggestions, which made it hard to choose, but through a compilation of some popular suggestions and finding something that reflected what Special Olympics Calgary is all about, the name selected is....
Spirit of Champions. Thank you for everyone's help!

You or your company now have the opportunity to bid in the online auction of the horses for your chance to own the horse. The highest amount bid, allows the bidder to own 'Spirit of Champions' and the dollars come directly to Special Olympics Calgary.
